If you’ve followed our blog – which you should – then you would know we are advocates for creativity. Mixology is an art and bloody marys are the canvas.

A loaded Bloody Mary is a popular cocktail made with vodka, tomato juice, and a combination of spices and flavorings such as Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, horseradish, celery salt, and lemon juice. It is typically served over ice and garnished with various items, such as celery stalks, olives, pickles, shrimp, bacon, and even cheeseburgers or sliders in some extreme cases.

What is a Loaded Bloody Mary?

Loaded Bloody Marys are a popular brunch cocktail and are known for their bold and spicy flavors. The term “loaded” refers to the fact that the drink is heavily garnished, making it more of a meal than just a cocktail.

Your loaded bloody mary should have shades of your personality and really express what you are all about. We have included some badass inspirational bloody marys and a couple recipes to get you on the right track of creating your own masterpiece.

Loaded Bloody Mary Garnishes

When it comes to a Loaded Bloody Mary, the garnishes are almost as important as the cocktail itself. The garnishes not only add visual appeal but they also bring an extra layer of flavor and texture to the drink.

So, let’s take a closer look at some of the most popular garnishes you might find on a Loaded Bloody Mary:

  1. Celery stalks – These are the classic Bloody Mary garnish, and for good reason. The crisp, fresh celery adds a nice crunch to the drink and helps to balance out the heat.
  2. Olives – Whether you prefer green or black olives, they are a must-have garnish for any Bloody Mary. They add a briny, salty flavor that pairs perfectly with the savory tomato juice.
  3. Pickles – Dill pickles, pickled green beans, pickled asparagus – any pickled vegetable works well as a Bloody Mary garnish. They bring a tangy, acidic flavor that cuts through the richness of the drink.
  4. Shrimp – For a more indulgent Bloody Mary, why not add a few cooked shrimp to the mix? They add a sweet, seafood flavor that pairs well with the spiciness of the cocktail.
  5. Bacon – It’s hard to go wrong with bacon, and adding a crispy slice or two to your Bloody Mary is a surefire way to take it to the next level. The smoky, salty flavor of the bacon pairs perfectly with the tomato and spice.
  6. Cheese – If you’re feeling really adventurous, you might even find a Loaded Bloody Mary garnished with a mini cheeseburger or grilled cheese sandwich. The creamy, salty cheese adds a decadent touch to the drink.

Of course, these are just some of the traditional garnishes. For a loaded bloody mary you need to get more extreme.

When it comes to the craziest garnishes in a loaded Bloody Mary, there seems to be no limit to the creativity of bartenders and mixologists. Here are some examples of some of the wildest and most extravagant garnishes you might find:

  1. Lobster tail – Some bars and restaurants will garnish their loaded Bloody Marys with a small cooked lobster tail, adding a touch of luxury to the drink.
  2. Pizza – Yes, you read that right. Some places will add a mini pizza slice or even a whole mini pizza to their loaded Bloody Marys, turning it into a full meal.
  3. Fried chicken – For a Southern twist, some Bloody Marys are garnished with a piece of fried chicken, adding a crunchy, savory element to the drink.
  4. Oysters – For a briny, seafood flavor, some bars will top their Bloody Marys with fresh oysters on the half shell.
  5. Sushi – Some bartenders will add a small sushi roll or nigiri to their loaded Bloody Marys, giving it a unique Asian twist.
  6. Donut – Sweet and savory meet in this unusual garnish, as some bars will top their Bloody Marys with a mini donut or donut hole.
  7. Jalapeno peppers – For those who love a little heat, some bars will garnish their Bloody Marys with a fresh jalapeno pepper or even pickled jalapenos.
  8. Hard-boiled eggs – Hard-boiled eggs add a hearty and protein-packed element to a loaded Bloody Mary, and some bars will even add them on a skewer with other garnishes.
  9. Beef jerky – This savory snack is the perfect garnish for a Bloody Mary, adding a chewy and salty element to the drink.
  10. Cheeseburgers – I mentioned this earlier, but it’s worth repeating – some bars will top their Bloody Marys with a mini cheeseburger or slider, taking the concept of a loaded cocktail to a whole new level.
  11. Pizza – A mini pizza slice or even a whole mini pizza can be a creative and unexpected garnish for a loaded Bloody Mary. It might not be the healthiest option, but it’s certainly a tasty one!

With so many different garnishes to choose from, the possibilities for a loaded Bloody Mary are truly endless. Whether you prefer classic options like celery and olives or more outlandish ones like pizza and cheeseburgers, one thing is for sure – a loaded Bloody Mary is a fun and flavorful way to enjoy brunch or any time of day!

While these garnishes may seem outrageous to some, they add an element of fun and excitement to the classic cocktail.

Just remember to pace yourself, as a loaded Bloody Mary with all the fixings can be quite filling!
